Bayerische G'wandkultur
To celebrate 125 Jahre Trachtenvereine in Bayern the Bayerische Trachtenverband has named 2008 as "Jahr der G'wandkultur". They designed a logo and scheduled many events throughout the entire year. The logo contains the words Tracht, zeitlos, wertvoll, bodenständig (Tracht: timeless, valuable, permanent). Recently a web site was created as part of this ongoing celebration and recognition of Tracht. Bayerische G'wandkultur has German text and beautiful photos of Tracht to illustrate the topics. "S'rechte Gwand zur rechten Zeit" (the right clothes for the right time), "Im Winter", "Zu Fastenzeit und Oster", "Bei Kommunion-Firmung". Bavaria has a distinctive culture, that resulted from the mentality, feelings, landscape, daily life and Christian beliefs and the G'wand is an external sign of this culture, said Peter Eicher, 1.Gauvorstand, Gauverband I. The Bayerischen Trachtenverband in cooperation with Bavarian Broadcasting (Bayerischen Rundfunk) has created a double CD with all proceeds going to benefit Das Haus der Bayerischen Trachtenkultur und Trachtengeschichte in Holzhausen. The music was recorded in the Mayr-Wirt Gasthaus in Erding. The CD debuted at a Fest in the Trachtenheim in Irschenberg, the evening was broadcast on Bavarian televsion. The music was provided by 134 participants from 24 music and singing groups from 21 Gauverbände. Gertrud Lindler, Vorsitzende des Sachgebietes Volksmusik und Volkslied presented one of the first copies to Bavarian Ministerpräsident Günter Beckstein. The CD includes a 12 page booklet with photos and contact information of the participating musicians. The CD will be available from the Gauverband Nordamerika library in the future. May 4, 2008 the Bayerischen Rundfunk ("Bavarian Radio") broadcast a television program called "Bayerns Trachtler feiern". The program was filmed on April 13, 2008 in the Hofbräukeller in Munich. It included singing, music, dancing, platteln and drehen of Trachtler from all over Bavaria. They told about their love and passion for "Trachtensach". Landesvorsitzender Otto Dufter and his wife Hilde were interviewed. His Königliche Hoheit Herzog Max in Bayern also took part. This is part of the ongoing celebration of 125 Jahre of Trachtenvereine in Bayern to bring awareness to Tracht and Heimatliebe.
