Members of our club traveled to Germany this past July to attend a very special annual event there.... 200 of the best Schuhplattlers and Ladies from all over Bavaria and America gathered together to compete for the coveted "Bavarian Lion" Prize (Bayerischer Löwe). State Minister Erwin Huber (presenting awards) and Patricia Guy, from the American consulate, were the special guests in attendance. Next years's competition will be held July 7, 2007 in Steingaden im Lechgau.
During the first evening, several men stood on the tables and cracked large whips right over our heads. It is quite difficult to accomplish this, especially while keeping time to music!

Newspapers reported that the temperature inside the tent reached 40 degrees Celsius!
A parade of all participating clubs wound through the streets of Diessen am Ammersee. We were able to see such a wide variety of beautiful Tracht.
D'Hochleitner Pullach invited us to join them on Sunday, at the Isargau's anniversary Gaufest in Eicherloh. We participated with them in a parade through the streets of Eicherloh. Not even a burst of rain could dampen the spirits of all the Trachtlers!
